A 11 kW system is for households that use a lot of power: a large family home, ducted air conditioning, a pool, an electric car, or a home that plans to add a battery and run most of the evening from stored solar. With 25 panels it produces about 43 to 46 kWh on an average day, and considerably more in summer.

It is also the point where your connection matters. Most distributors cap single phase export at 5 kW, and Essential Energy offers flexible exports of up to 10 kW for eligible single phase homes, so a 11 kW array on a single phase connection may be export limited during the middle of the day. The panel array is 110% of the inverter rating, which is the standard way to size a system in Australia: panels rarely run at their full rating, so oversizing keeps the inverter working near capacity for more of the day and it is within the 133% allowed for the solar rebate.

On the Mid North Coast a well sited system averages about 4 kWh per kilowatt per day across the year. For this package that is roughly 43 to 46 kWh a day, or around 16,200 kWh a year, with more in summer and less in winter. A north facing roof does best, but east and west facing arrays still perform well here and can spread production across the morning and afternoon.
