Commercial roofs make up a solid share of the work here. Packing sheds, workshops, retail and light industrial buildings usually have large uninterrupted roof planes and a daytime load profile that suits solar almost perfectly. The constraints are structural capacity, switchboard condition and the network export limit, and we check all three before proposing a size.

Residential roofs closer to the water need the corrosion detail taken seriously. Stainless fixings, correctly isolated dissimilar metals, sealed penetrations and an inverter mounted out of the salt wind. Where a roof is broken into small planes or shaded for part of the day, module-level control earns its place, and where it is a clean single plane it usually does not. We tell you which one you have.

Off-grid solar is one of the most searched terms for this area, and the reason is geography. Properties back off the highway sit a long way from the nearest pole, and running new line to them is rarely simple. A standalone system removes that problem entirely.

Designing one is a different discipline from a rooftop install. The array, the battery bank and the backup generator have to work together through the worst stretch of overcast weather the site will see, not the average. We start from a load list and build up, and we design in headroom so the system is not living on the edge every wet week.

We do this work ourselves rather than passing it to a specialist contractor, which means one point of contact for the design, the build and anything that comes up afterwards.
