A 1.5 kW system is a small array of 4 panels. It suits a granny flat, a holiday cabin, a small unit with limited roof, or a home where daytime power use is light and the goal is to cover the basics: fridge, lights, a washing machine run in the middle of the day.

Be honest with yourself about usage before you commit to this size. A typical Port Macquarie home uses 15 to 30 kWh a day, and this package makes about 6 to 6 kWh on an average day. If you have the roof space, a larger system usually costs little more per kilowatt installed and pays back faster. On the Mid North Coast a well sited system averages about 4 kWh per kilowatt per day across the year. For this package that is roughly 6 to 6 kWh a day, or around 2,200 kWh a year, with more in summer and less in winter. A north facing roof does best, but east and west facing arrays still perform well here and can spread production across the morning and afternoon.

Allow about 8 square metres of clear roof for the 4 panels, plus clearance from roof edges, vents and anything that throws shade. Roof pitch, orientation and any shading are all checked at the free site assessment, and we design the layout to suit your roof rather than a standard drawing.
