Solar Installation Sawtell

It sits eight kilometres south of Coffs Harbour, close enough to the ocean that salt is part of the job. Roofs here get a mild winter and a long bright summer, which suits solar, but hardware has to be specified for the exposure or it will not last.

Housing in Sawtell runs from older weatherboard and fibro cottages through to newer brick homes on the edges, and the roof you have decides most of the design. Older places often have smaller, cut-up roof planes and a switchboard that needs attention before anything else happens. Newer builds usually have the room for a larger array and a clean wall for a battery beside it.

Our team has been putting solar on Mid North Coast roofs for over twenty years, with more than five thousand systems finished. We work out of Port Macquarie and cover the local area and the wider Coffs Coast from there. Nothing is farmed out, so the quote you sign is honoured by the people who turn up.

For hardware we stay with brands that have real support behind them: Trina, Jinko, REC and Tindo panels, Fronius, Sungrow, GoodWe, Sigenergy and SMA inverters, and Sigenergy, Sungrow, BYD or GoodWe batteries. Essential Energy handles the network approvals, and we lodge that application along with the federal rebate claim.

A lot of people searching for an electrician in Sawtell end up needing solar work, and the two overlap more than you would think. Our installers are licensed electricians, so switchboard upgrades, safety switches, sub-mains and EV charger wiring are all done by the same crew on the same day. That saves chasing a second trade once the panels are up.

Repairs and upgrades are steady work for us as well. Systems from the first wave of rooftop solar are often running an inverter near the end of its life on panels that are still perfectly good. Replacing the inverter, adding capacity or fitting a battery to what is already there is frequently a better move than starting again, and we will tell you which way to go once we have seen it.

Anything mounted outside within a few kilometres of the surf lives a harder life. Salt-laden air finds its way into cheap fixings, aluminium rail joints and any steel that has been cut and left unprotected. Racking that would be fine in a dry inland town will pit and streak here inside a few seasons.

Coastal-rated mounting components go on jobs here as standard. We keep dissimilar metals apart so nothing corrodes at the joint, seal every roof penetration against driving rain, and site the inverter where it is shaded and out of the spray rather than wherever the cable run is shortest.

None of that shows up in a brochure. It is simply the difference between a system that still looks right after a decade of onshore wind and one that needs remedial work long before it should.

Below are the packages we fit most often around Sawtell. Treat the sizes as a starting point, because we adjust the panel count and the inverter to suit your roof and your bill.
